Let’s Go Back and Forth Group Child Care Game
What you'll need: You and your toddlers and time to play
Before you begin:
- Talk with your students about the game you will play; a game called “Back
and Forth.
Try this!
- Sit on the floor, in a circle with all toddlers facing the center, with legs apart.
- Hold each others hands and alternate leaning back and forth, one toddler will lead forward and the next back
- Alternate rocking back and forward, with every other toddler going forward or back
- Try to get a rhythm to your rocking as you say “back and forth,” “back and forth.”
Play “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”
- Add variety to the game by singing a song as you go back and forth.
- Try singing this familiar song
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
Name: Let's Go Back and Forth
Children: 1 or more
Ages: 18 months to 36 months
Place: Indoors in a large room or outside on grass or pavement
Equipment: None!
